Over the weekend a couple of friends and I decided to go to Hunter Valley for my friend Michelle’s birthday! She turned 25 this year so she decided to do something fun and different! I’ve known Michelle now for about five years now and I think we have gotten to know each other pretty well! I think as a group, all the girls in it have been through highs and lows together so it was a great chance to get away from the city and hangout, relax, celebrate and catchup!
We stayed in the Hunter for two nights and went to various wineries and restaurants! I’m pretty sure all of us were looking forward to eating at Muse Restaurant after hearing from our friend Lily what a fantastic experience it was when she went last. The birthday girl lovvedd the food and we took quite a number of photos there before we left!
I think after going there once, I’d definitely want to go again! The food was honestly sooo tasty and since each of us only ordered two dishes each I feel like I want to go again so that I can taste different dishes on the menu!
This was the main that I picked for myself! It included pork belly and heirloom carrots! Some of the other girls ordered the Ocean trout main, I tasted a bit and it was devine!! Kind of wish I had ordered that instead. Next time I go to the Hunter I’ll definitely come here and order the ocean trout for myself.
This was basically the reason we decided to go to Muse restaurant!! On the menu this dessert was named “Muse Coconut” and as you can see it looks like such a realistic coconut! INFACT its actually chocolate!! with coconut juice in the middle and a kind of coconut flavoured icecream cloud! IT WAS SO DELICIOUS! I honestly could have licked the plate clean.
After eating we decided to visit a couple of wineries! These included Tempus two cellar door, the smelly cheese shops, Kevin Sobel wines, Mcguigan wines and mistletoe wines just to name a few! I Bought the ‘Maestri’ red wine (which I looveee drinking even though I’m not normally a red wine fan) as well as a Moscato! and in addition I bought a bottle of ‘Silvereye Semillon’ from Mistletoe wines that is very light and apparently pairs well with asian cuisine so I’m super excited to get cooking again! I’m still very new to wines and don’t drink it very often but I think I’ve slowly grown accustomed to white wine now as previously I could only drinks dessert wines… surprisingly I now find them a little to sweet!
I think by the end of the trip everyone had so much fun that we didn’t want to drive back to Sydney. Before we left we had lunch at a place called “Cafe Enzo” and tried their well-known Prawn Linguini Pasta. I actually used to hate prawns but look how far I’ve come! ordering a prawn pasta! The pasta and prawns were well cooked and the sauce was delicious.. definitely going to try to cook more prawn pasta at home in the future haha
