newgraduate position and nursing ball

Can’t believe I havn’t updated my blog in so long! I’ve had so many things going on in my life lately and I just havn’t had the chance to do things that I enjoy.. however I’m on my last legs of my nursing degree so I can’t wait to have more time to go out on road trips, go to the beach, do more art and craft things and update everyone on what I’ve been up to!

What’s been up with my Nursing…

So during August I had an interview for a new graduate position. Every nursing student who lives in NSW has the chance of securing a permanent 12 month position at a public hospital. You submit an application, put in 8 preferences of hospitals and attend an interview. During the end of September first round offers for new graduate positions for the next year get released! Guess What!? I got one!!! I can honestly say that September 20th was the happiest I’ve ever been. I could not believe my eyes when I opened up my email and there was an email from a Sydney hospital waiting for me. As soon as I opened the attachment I felt such a huge sense of excitement and relief and happiness!

I’ve been studying for so many years and cant believe that I will finally be beginning my career next year! I have honestly wasted so much time trying to decide what i’ve wanted to do with my life and my career and I’m so glad that I’m actually doing something that I love! I can’t wait to start next year but I’m also pretty scared because I’m not sure what to expect as I’ve never had placement at the hospital I recieved the job from.

I’ve also officially finished all my placements! How exciting is that!? I finished my six week placement a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t be happier! I do feel like I have learnt so much in all my placement experiences and I’m glad that I’ve gotten through it all! I know that I”ll be taking transferring many of the skills that I’ve learnt within placement into my work for next year!

Usyd Nursing Ball

On saturday I attended the Nursing ball that Sydney University organised! It was a cocktail themed event with canapes and unlimited alcohol with an open bar… I’m not sure if that was a good idea but I do know that I had so much fun! All the girls looked so gorgeous in their outfits and the boys all looked so suave in their suits! I really think that everyone in my Masters of Nursing cohort are one of the funnest and most easy going people I have ever met! All of us definitely made the most of the night! There was a photobooth there aswell that everyone took advantage of! Here are some photos from the night.

I’ve only got about 2 weeks left of actual class, one more assessment to hand in and 2 more exams and then i’m done! I’m very very excited to finally finish and enjoy my break! Summer is just around the corner aswell so I can’t wait to enjoy the weather, go to the beach and relax over the new year! What has everyone got planned for their christmas and new year?
