On July 9 it was my birthday and I turned 25! I say this every year but I really am surprised with how fast time goes by. This year I decided to have a birthday lunch at Jono’s place! I set up some tables outside and cooked quite a bit of food. I invited my friends to celebrate with me and I think it went quite well. I don’t have many photos from that day but I’ve got the memories!

Bundeena

weddingcake4

In the midst of my first nursing semester of 2016… and with exams looming and multiple assessments to submit.. what better time than now to take a day trip to Bundeena and check out Wedding Cake Rock. Or as I like to call it “Tofu Rock” because it actually looks to me more like a Tofu than a wedding cake…

And thats just what we did! My four uni friends and I skipped lectures and decided to have brunch and drive to Bundeena. I’ve never been there before but a few of my friends have so I’m pretty late to the bandwagon. I remember when it was ‘THE’ place to explore last year and in 2014… How crazy to think its been two years since then. HOW CAN TIME GO BY SO QUICKLY!?

Hobart, Tasmania

DSC03359

After we left Melbourne on the 23rd we flew straight to Tasmania! I’ve never been to Tasmania before. It’s funny how I love to travel but I’ve never even properly explored my own Australian backyard but I’ve been to countries overseas! It was nice for a change to go somewhere that was reasonably close and had a very short flight time!

We arrived there on the Saturday morning and instantly realized that we hadn’t hired a car. How on earth were we going to get to our hotel or explore Hobart if we didn’t even have a way to drive around!? Luckily there were a few cars that we could book online… but all the deals were basically gone so we just got whatever we could get hahaha.

That day we missed the Salamanca markets because out flight arrived at 2 and the markets close at 3…Its the biggest outdoor market in the southern hemisphere (I think) I really wanted to check out the stalls! Oh well, next time I go to Hobart I’ll be sure to check it out!

My Melbourne Trip

DSC03016

So over the Anzac day Long weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to go on a trip to Melbourne! The last time I went was about 5 years ago so I don’t really remember much of it but was super excited to go again!

What we were both really looking forward to was Ai Wei Wei and Andy Warhol’s exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria! It was going to finish in the 26th if April so we luckily got there in time! We caught a plane from Sydney wednesday night after work, stayed for a couple of days and then flew to Tasmania! (which I’ll write about in a separate post!)

The exhibition was amazzzinngg! I loved it so much! We also checked out another art gallery, ate heaps of food at Heston Blumenthal’s “Dinner” restaurant (so sad we missed the Fat Duck but I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t have even gotten a table there seeing as you had to enter a raffle haha), went shopping and explored Brunswick, visited a few record stores (where I found out Prince passed away!!) and generally just had a really relaxing time! It was a really nice getaway .. it felt like I was overseas even though we weren’t!

Here are a few photos from our trip!
I hope to print out quite a few of them and make a photo album! (I’ve been meaning to make one for aggesssss but just havn’t had the time to/am too lazy to)

hmmmm what have I been up to recently? I feel like since my last post I haven’t really updated my blog as much as I’ve wanted to. This past week has been a mixture of Nursing placements and work. Having an afternoon shift for most days hasn’t helped either since that means I’m unable to meet up with people for dinner at night.

Last weekend I went to get my hair done! I’m wanting to try something new with my hair so I’m slowly getting it lightened. In the end I do want to try and get all my hair lightened but I’m slowly working my way up. I went to a hairdressers called “Studio B Hair Design” which is located in Cronulla. My best friend Nicolle was sweet enough to drive us there and she sat with me through the entire process (Have I got an amazing best friend or what!? I owe her big time!) I’ve been following them for a while on instagram and loved their work so I decided to give it a shot! I had to book almost 2 months in advance though because of how busy they get!

my dressing table

So I think I’ve only started getting into makeup a bit more over the past two years or so. I never really wore makeup in high school (maybe some powder or mascara? I can’t even remember) but I had no idea about eyeliner or contouring and nothing about eyeshadow. Being part of a facebook group that raves on about makeup has helped alot hahaha

Currently I stay over at my boyfriends place most of the week and the majority of my skin care products and makeup are at my boyfriends place now.. I sometimes feel like its slightly annoying to carry products to and fro but I mostly have double of things now. Previously I never really had anywhere to put my makeup except for the bathroom cupboard but I found this cute little table that my boyfriends dad didn’t really want to I converted it into a mini dressing table! Please keep reading if you’d like to see what I have displayed!

bienalle at cockatoo island

bienalle2

I’ve been waiting for the Biennale to start back up in Sydney since the end of last year! It’s basically an art exhibition that runs in Sydney every two years and showcases a variety of international work across different galleries and locations! Some of the locations include the Art Gallery of New South Wales, The Museum of Contemporary Art and Carriageworks. The Biennale at Cockatoo Island in particular has always been my favourite! It’s currently running from the 18th of March until the 5th of June. I’ve been to two previous exhibits and have always been in awe of the art I’ve seen there! Here are a couple of snaps that I took on the day! Although I did enjoy my time there I feel like it was not as interesting as previous years. I think that may have been because they have spread out the artwork more amongst other locations so I will definitely take the time to explore other artwork while the Biennale is still on!

everyday s(u)kin products

sukin1

Has anyone here heard of the brand “Sukin”? I’ve been using it for quite a while now (I think possibly a year?) and it’s actually the only brand I use currently to wash and moisturise my face. Since I’ve been using it I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my skin’s texture and colour. I generally have quite oily acne prone skin and I feel it’s been very difficult to find products that are suited to my skin type. I’ve tried many products but none of them have worked as well as Sukin. Please keep in mind that what works for me may not work as well for you. This is my experience with Sukin that I am sharing to you so I hope it may help in some way!

nursing diary: from teacher to student nurse.

nursing1

So if you may or may not know, Im currently studying a Master in Nursing. It’s a two year course and I’m currently in my second and final year. I think reflection is a big part of nursing .. reflecting on practice and reflecting on yourself.. so I’m going to take the time (maybe this will be an ongoing process.. who knows?) to blog about how I decided to change and study nursing, why I enjoy it so much and hopefully how I’m going in the clinical setting! Fingers crossed will be me next year.

warning: I wrote a lot!
